How to choose the right screen

A practical guide to choosing between a 65-inch, 75-inch, 85-inch, 90-inch or 98-inch monitor, LED wall and projector for an event in Edinburgh.

A practical selection guide

Start with what people need to see.

Screen size is only one factor. Content detail, viewing distance, room brightness, layout and connection requirements all affect which display is appropriate.

65–75-inch monitors

Consider these for meeting rooms, breakout spaces and smaller presentations where the audience can sit relatively close to the display.

85–98-inch monitors

Consider larger monitors when the room or audience requires a bigger image but a single screen remains practical.

LED wall or projection

For a much wider canvas or a larger projected image, compare LED wall and projection options against the venue, content and ambient light.

The key checks

Five details to confirm before you book.

  1. Viewing distance: how far away will the furthest attendee be?
  2. Content: are people reading small text and charts, or mainly watching video and graphics?
  3. Ambient light: can the room be dimmed, and where does daylight enter?
  4. Source and signal: what laptop or playback device will be connected, and which output does it provide?
  5. Placement and access: where will the screen stand, how will power and signal cables reach it, and can the equipment reach the room?

Do not choose on audience numbers alone. Room geometry, sightlines and the content are often just as important.

Connection planning

Confirm your device before event day.

HDMI is common for laptops and presentation devices, but the exact inputs, resolution, adapters, audio routing and any wireless presentation requirements should be checked against the equipment and source device.

For complex setups, share the laptop model or output specifications and any venue technical requirements when requesting a quote.
